Israel is committing war crimes

Hamas is a pretty hateful organisation. The rulers of Gaza might not have adopted the charter which calls for the destruction of Israel, but their actions have been indefensible, callous and stupid.

Having said that, nothing, nothing, excuses the behaviour of the Israeli army. the campaign has been nothing more than a disgrace, with the vast majority of people killed civilians and not fighters, despite what AP and Israel spokesmen says.

I have spoken extensively with people in Gaza City over the last few days; their experience is horrifing. Shells landing in neighbouring houses, families being killed, people hiding in streets thinking it would be safer than their homes.

And now Israel have attacked the UN's headquarters in Gaza. They have the cheek to say they were returning fire. It echoes what they said after they hit the UN school. But of course it turned out not to be true. There were Hamas fighters near the school but not in it as their spokesman claimed.

And they have hit hospitals. Three of them, including a Red Crescent hospital. All valid targets? Ha!

Israeli government spokesman continue to claim that Hamas fighters use homes as protection. But last week Amnesty Internationl said the IDF did exactly the same thing, moving into Palestinian homes, ordering families to move from other parts of the house and then firing from the property.

And we have already been told about the property to which Palestinaian civilians were moved only for it to be shelled days later.

As I said, Israel is committing war crimes and those responsible should be brought to justice.
